GCCs in India are new goldmine for top talent
More than 1,580 Global Capability Centres in India have employed over 1.66 million; there is an expected talent requirement of over 40 lakh jobs, say HR experts

Hyderabad: Aim to work at Global Capability Centres (GCCs), as MNCs are things of the past. Build long-term capabilities, as in India, GCCs are the new goldmine for top talent and fresh Engineering and Management graduates, HR experts said to students.
Vidya Jyothi Institute of Technology had organised a HR Conclave, Beacon 2024. The conclave, organised in partnership with WOW HR, focused on Future-Forward Engineering. These HR experts were part of two panel discussions, titled, ‘Guiding GenZ - Power of Coaching,’ and ‘Empowering Students: Navigating Disruptive Technology.’
“India has emerged as a prime destination for GCCs. The country has more than 1,580 GCCs with an installed talent base of over 1.66 million, and an expected talent requirement of over 40 lakh jobs,” the HR professionals said.
Experts from industries such as Epam Systems, Disney Star, Virtusa, ServiceNow, Hyd Metro, Berkadia Group, Campus Hiring, HR Innovator, Siemens EDA India, Deluxe India, BP, Flutter Entertainment LLC, and Hexaware Technologies, participated.
At the inaugural function, Dr E Sai Baba Reddy, Principal of VJIT delivered the welcome address. Krithivasan S from Wow HR, an HR influencer, and career analyst, was the guest of honour. A total of 200 students participated in Beacon 2024. The inaugural was followed by a fireside chat on the ‘Future of Work in Engineering.’
Moderating the chat, M Venkata Chalapathy, Sr Director and Head HR Virtusa, said that recessions are part of the industry’s journey. Recession is a trend witnessed every two years. The best way to navigate such a scenario is to prepare and get the right exposure, he added.
Debashish Ghosh, Head HR, Berkadia Group, said that job aspirants are currently reading the wrong side of the news of employees in IT being laid off. The number is just two per cent, the balance 98 per cent of employees are yet employed because of their skills. The adage ‘where there is a will, there is a way,’ is now modified as ‘where there is a skill, there is a way,’ Ghosh added.
